Assistant Secretary General Renews His Commitment

AMBASSADOR Albert Ramdin began his second term as Assistant Secretary General of the OAS in a Special Session of the Permanent Council where he spoke of the efforts he will make in the next five years to ensure that the OAS will continue to be "a unique vehicle for resolving differences and building consensus."

Towards that goal, Ramdin stated that "efforts must be made to build peace and exercise discreet diplomacy as effective tools to help member states resolve their differences before they turn into larger conflicts."

During the July 19 ceremony in Washington PC, Ramdin renewed his commitment to "facilitate a united hemisphere," promote equality, and strengthen democratic processes in the region; and cooperate with member states to enhance regional security. …
