The 2010 Montreal Guitar Show--held in conjunction with the 2010 Montreal Jazz Festival--was a spectacular event, More than 130 acoustic and electric guitar makers from ten countries displayed their creations and talked shop with the thousands of folks that attended the show on July 2-4. Only a select group of luthiers were invited by founder Jacques-Andre Dupont to exhibit, resulting in a stellar array of instruments, including those from "rock star" builders such as Tom Ribbecke, Linda Manzer, John Monteleone, and Ervin Somogyi. Also in attendance were tone wood suppliers; pickup, guitar case, strap, pick, and other accessory manufacturers; and even a few electronics manufacturers. The Montreal Guitar Show also featured numerous workshops and lectures, as well as dozens of mini-concerts and perform antes by extraordinary guitarists, including David Reinhardt, Charlie Hunter, Bob Brozman, Sylvain Luc, Monte Montgomery, Andy McKee, Matt Andersen, Yamandu Costaa, and Tony McManus.

The Luthiers Acoustic Section, which also included archtops and semihollow models. Solidbodiee were displayed in the Electric Section, and there were smaller halls for other types of guitars.

Jean-Yves Alquier showcased the extraordinary Papaleocada, an instrument constructed from curly maple and mahogany within a stainless steel "exoskaleton," and fitted with a moveable nut and a Benedetti piezo pickup with two XLR outputs, alquier-guitar.com.
