One of the most talked-about aspects of Apple's iPad was the potential for full-fledged digital periodicals. That notion is again in the spotlight with the launch of The Daily, a daily digital newspaper owned by News Corp. that will cover world and national news, entertainment, sports, technology, and opinion. The digital newspaper was unveiled at a combined Apple and News Corp. event on Feb. 2, where Rupert Murdoch, News Corp. CEO, and Eddy Cue, vice president of Apple's iTunes, were on hand to promote the venture.

The digital paper is automatically delivered each day to subscribers through a dedicated iPad app. In addition to traditional text and graphical content, The Daily will also feature video, graphics, and interactive elements. Some stories also provide real-time content such as data and social feeds. The app will serve fullscreen advertisements that can also include interactive features.
