The Functional Skills System is a suite of 42 independent living skills tutorial programs for that are available as applications (apps) for the Apple iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad. The apps are designed to teach and reinforce common words, phrases and basic skills that are used in a variety of activities in the home and community and at school and work. Each app uses videos to provide examples of each word, phrase or concept. The Functional Skills System covers five basic areas--Life Skills, Literacy Skills, Social Skills, Work Skills, and Working with

Money. The 19 Life Skills apps focus on signs and words related to safety, personal hygiene, and participating in common activities such as shopping, dining out, and using public transportation. Seven Literacy Skills teach common nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs. The six Social Skills apps provide training in communications skills and socially acceptable behavior and manners. Three Work Skills apps cover words and phrase relating to workplace safety, finding a job, and tools and equipment found in the workplace. …
