* If Steve Jobs were looking for a new day job, there might be a place for him in the information industry, according to DARRELL GUNTER, the new chief commercial officer at the American Institute of Physics (AIP).

"As the STM industry has taken many years determining if it is going to put books online, we need to have a Steve Jobs--like personality to help address the lack of innovation," says Gunter.

Before Gunter joined AIP, he was executive vice president and CMO for Collexis Holdings, Inc. He also held positions at Xerox, Dow Jones, and Elsevier, where he led the launch and growth of ScienceDirect.

Since joining the company, Gunter has immersed himself in assessing the business, markets, vendors, and operations to gain an understanding of where the company stands. "It is one thing to say we want to grow our revenues by $X," he says, "but it is another thing to understand what have been the drivers of the company's revenue growth, its challenges and pitfalls, and then be able to definitively say we will grow our revenues by 20% by focusing on these specific revenue channels. …
