The American Association of SNAP Directors (AASD) is currently planning its annual conference, to be held October 9-12, 2011 in Columbus, OH. State and federal budget challenges continue to be of primary focus and concern as conference planning moves forward. This year also provides a unique opportunity to work with the National Association for Program Information and Performance Measurement (NAPIPM). NAPIPM is not holding an annual conference for 2011 so its board is working directly with AASD board members to develop two workshops focused on quality control-specific topics to encourage increased attendance and involvement from state quality control (QC) directors and other NAPIPM members. Currently, these workshops are titled "Joint SNAP Policy/ QC Current Issues" and "State Policy/ QC Collaboration." Other workshops planned are "Discovering Best Practices in the World of Payment Accuracy and Valid Negative Actions," "Churning--And We Don't Mean Butter," and "Research You Can Use in a SNAP." Workshops are still being developed on Senior Outreach with AARP, State versus County-Administered SNAP, the SNAP-Ed program and what Health Care Reform means for SNAP, to name a few. …
