Put yourself in the customers' shoes and go with your gut instinct.

- What was your first job?

I was a regional marketing co-ordinator for Energade, a sports-drinks brand in South Africa. I got to work with the national cricket and rugby teams - that set my expectations for future jobs.

- How did you get your first job?

I saw an ad on the noticeboard at college, but I didn't get the job. A few weeks later, I got a call to say that the successful applicant had decided she didn't want to get her hands dirty mixing up sports drinks at trade shows.

- Do you have a mentor?

No, but I've recently worked with Adam Morgan and would love to spend more time with him and the team from eatbigfish.

- What is your favourite ever marketing campaign?

Honda's 'Dreams' for its diesel engine.

- What was your finest hour?

I'd have to say giving birth to my two girls at home. …
