I'M GETTING EXCITED ABOUT OUR ANNUAL CONVENTION AND CAREER TECH EXPO!

It's only a matter of weeks until the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) will be in St. Louis, and we will have the opportunity to participate in some great professional development not to mention meet old friends and make some new ones! It reminds me of the old movie, "State Fair," and the song, "Our State Fair." In the Rodgers and Hammerstein song there is a line that says, "Our state fair is a great state fair, don't miss it, don't even be late!" That's how I feel about our Annual Convention: "Our Convention is a great national Convention, don't miss it, don't even be late!"

On another related subject, I have spent some time looking at our membership dues arid what it means to you, the member. If I asked you to contribute $2 a month for ACTE to provide services and support to you, I believe you would say, "Of course, it's worth $24 a year to support me in my Division and in my Region!" And if I said the annual subscription to Techniques magazine would only cost $21 a year, less than $2 per month, I know you would see the value of the articles. And if I asked you what it is worth to have ACTE represent you in Washington to meet with Congressional staff when bills are being written, or proposed, what would you say? What is it worth to have career and technical education (CTE) brought up at every committee hearing, and to have White Papers written showing the value of what we do? …
