He adored the beaches of the Atlantic and the skies of Normandy, but it was on the shores of the Mediterranean that Pierre Bonnard saw his work explode with new colour and expression. It is fitting therefore that the most extensive museum now devoted to this artist should be in Le Cannet, where the painter lived for more than twenty years.

Inaugurated this summer in a magnificent former grand hotel, the Musee Bonnard has been completely renovated and luxuriously furnished. The collection it houses somehow captures the extraordinary light and colour of this place--one of the most beautiful locations on earth.
