Review of the Year: Customer Publishing Leagues - Paper Profits

Article excerpt

Customer publishers had a strong year, recording a financial improvement with increased turnover in many cases, thanks mainly to the continued rise of branded content and digital communications.

The customer publishing industry has remained resilient in the past year, thanks to the parallel rise of branded content and digital communications, including apps and social media, as a way for brands to put their messages across.

Those agencies in Marketing's 2011 league table show a marked financial improvement on last year. Print remains a core medium for agencies and brands, but is now often being used in more strategic ways, in combination with social-media content, for example.

The increasing use of branded content, meanwhile, is making brands more open to innovation than before, so they are more likely to test different types of content across a variety of formats.
