A few years back as I was attending the state conference, and talking to a past president on the concerns I have for CTE, I asked him why we didn't do more in-service training. He said; "If more people would get involved, it would be easier to facilitate more in-service training." He made reference to trying to pick up a 1,000-pound rock. If only 10 people try to move the rock it would be very hard to do and take a lot of time, but if we had 40 people we could move it farther and much faster and with less effort. He then asked me why I did not get involved in the ACTE/AZ board and help make a difference. For a year I thought about what he said. During the next summer conference he asked me again when I was going to step up. Well, that year I did, I became an ACTE/AZ Fellow.

The Arizona Fellows program helped give me insight into what ACTE is all about. I had been to many state and national conferences, but I never knew what it takes to put a conference on; or what goes on at the national level. …
