Salsali Private Museum in Dubai, founded by collector Ramin Salsali has opened with an exhibition of works from the founder's collection called, appropriately, 'Show Off!'. The overt references to the narcissism of private wealth are deliberate; the museum is intended to encourage collecting within the region, particularly of local artists, and features a section known as Collectors Lounge where work from other collections will be presented. www.salsalipm.com

Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, the 50,000sqft pet project of Alice Walton, an heir to the Walmart fortune, has opened close to Crystal Springs in Bentonville, Arkansas. Designed by Israeli-born Boston-based architect Moshe Safdie, the museum is home to a rapidly gathered collection of historical and modern works, including a James Turrell 'Skyspace' structure. www.crystalbridges.org

Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston opened its new wing, designed by Renzo Piano, last month. At 70,000sqft the new building is a little larger than the museum's historic home, which it sits behind. www.isgm.org

Tel Aviv Museum of Art has opened its long-awaited new wing, the Herta and Paul Amir Building. Architect Preston Scott Cohen was selected from an open competition launched in 2002 and his striking design adds 20,000sqm to the museum. www.tamuseum.com

White Cube's expansion continues with Gilbert & George's 'London Pictures' launching a new Hong Kong branch at the start of March.

Ceri Hand Gallery's final exhibition at its Liverpool space closes at the end of this month in preparation for the gallery upping sticks and moving to London later this year. www.cerihand.co.uk

Carroll / Fletcher, a new gallery on central London's Eastcastle Street, opens on 24 February with an exhibition by John Wood & Paul Harrison. The gallery, which is co-founded by Steve Fletcher and collector Jonathon Carroll, makes for a welcome addition to this increasingly gallery-crowded street; it has a particularly strong roster of artists working in new media, from Eva & Franco Mattes to Thomson & Craighead, Michael Joaquin Grey to Manfred Mohr. www.carrollfletcher.com
