Pat Arnow is a professional writer, researcher, and photographer who grew up in Chicago, and now lives in New York City, working as a freelance photographer. She currently works for labor unions and, in 2010, won two first place awards from the International Labor Communications Association. She received a Regents B.A. with a concentration in journalism and photography from Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia. Her deep connection to the South began with her marriage to Steve Giles, a native of Louisville, Kentucky, and together they spent twenty-one years living in various parts of Southeast Ohio, West Virginia, North Carolina, and Tennessee. During this time, Arnow worked as the editor for Southern Exposure a magazine of regional politics and culture, and Now and Then, the Appalachian magazine of East Tennessee State University. She has also been the cultural editor of In These Times, an independent news-magazine, and the research editor of Reader's Digest. …
