Eoin Colfer is at his best with the last instalment in the Artemis Fowl series. As with the calling of time on the Alex Rider series, a period of mourning seems justified. But before then, Artemis Fowl and the Last Guardian is a great way for Eoin to bring an end to Artemis' adventures. As a whole, the series has had a number of golden moments, most notably within the first and second books. The Atlantis Complex--the preceding book to this last magical tale--delivered a slight glitch in the Artemis programming, but happily, both Artemis and Eoin are back to their ingenious best.

It is the smart and snappy dialogue, alongside the superfast switching between scenes that have made this series a highlight for any fantasy-fiction fan. These hallmarks make Artemis Fowl and the Last Guardian the page-turner we all expect from such an adventure.
