Bank South Markets Point-of-Sale Program

Article excerpt

Sanchez Computer Associates of Malvern, Pa., is offering a new banking software system. The system, which supports a wide range of applications, is designed for commercial banks and thrift institutions with assets of up to $1 billion.

The system, called Profile, runs on minicomputers, including the VAX line made by Digital Equipment Corp. Because Profile runs on minicomputers rather than the larger mainframe computers, the software package can save banks up to 50% on data processing costs, Sanchez claims.

Profile supports automated teller machines, teller terminals, printers, personal computers, and other internal and external computers.

And the system includes transaction modules for deposit processing, loan processing, item processing, and mortgage processing and tracking. The Profile package includes training for bank personnel, and Sanchez maintains a staff of programmers to refine the software system as needed.

Sanchez is introducing the software package at the National Council of Savings Institutions convention in Boston, April 3-5.

Profit Technologies Corp. in the Woodlands, Tex., has released a new microcomputer software package called General Ledger Accounting Subsidiary System. The software, which runs on the IBM PC or XT microcomputers, provides historical, current, and future financial information. It also performs such functions as budget performance analyses, financial trend reviews, and "what if" scenarios for planning.

Piedmont Software Co. of Charlotte, N.C., has introduced a variety of bond swap programs. The programs analyze different kinds of swaps ranging from simple one-for-one swaps to swaps involving hundreds of securities. …
