When Daniel Mayer stepped up to the podium at the SIIA IIS meeting in New York City last January, he accepted the 2013 SIIA Content CODiE Award for Best Semantic Technology Solution; the product was TEMIS, Inc.'s Luxid Content Enrichment Platform.

For the vice president of corporate marketing at TEMIS, the award was a testament to the company's flagship software solution that is serving a variety of publishers and information specialists, ranging from SAGE Publications to Bloomberg BNA. The key to the Luxid Content Enrichment Platform is that it provides a semantic tagging and linking platform to categorize content and make that content easily discoverable for users. "These are solutions that turn unstructured data into actionable knowledge for our customers," says Mayer, who acknowledged that this is the first time that semantic content enrichment technology was designated as a CODiE Award category all of its own. This semantic content enrichment process, says Mayer, "is a standard requirement for all information-and content-centric organizations."

The core Luxid product is customizable and scalable, depending on user need and functionality. Using Luxid Skill Cartridges, customers can extract specific information from unstructured content and use semantic capabilities to enhance the data with domain-specific metadata. …
