In addition to the current concept of service for the residents of Boys Town, this project embraces a new concept to offer help to families in the surrounding community at-large. Counselors and staff within this new facility see families in trouble. The philosophy is, that it is better to keep these families together rather than separate the family units. Treating the whole family at this facility is the goal.

One of the challenges for Calvin L. Hinz Architects was a need for two separate entrances, one for the community at-large and one for the residents of Boys Town. Both entrances needed a hierarchy that was equal, but still would honor the budget. The solution to this challenge was to design a smaller entrance on the North side of the building that was for the residents of Boys Town. A larger one was designed for the South side of the building for the public. Both entrances possess the same detailing of high windows, which allow the introduction of natural sunlight, tall ceilings with wood detailing, recessed lighting, tile detailing in the floor, and granite reception counters. …
