Connections Program Links Canadians and Overseas Partners

PWRDF launched a new program in 2012 called Connections. According to Carolyn Vanderlip, the program's coordinator; "PWRDF Connections will enable Canadian Anglicans and PWRDF partners to experience more, different and closer connections to their mutual ministry and work through PWRDF partners' programs and projects."

These closer connections have already begun to sprout through three projects this year:

* Christ Church Cathedral in Vancouver raised over $13,000 in a campaign to provide 1300 mosquito nets for PWRDF's health program in Mozambique. "The project was felt to be realistic, had concrete characteristics, would be ideal for the Children's Ministry as an education initiative and also for the congregation at Christ Church Cathedral," wrote Dr Jack Forbes (a campaign organizer at the cathedral, "We loved the idea and a $10 donation could secure the purchase of a treated net and the support services."

* PWRDF has provided a grant to Fundacion Cristosal, which is implementing a human rights and community development program in EI Salvador to strengthen community organization and social coordination and provide legal assistance and education in human rights issues. …
