Tonido Mobile: iOS 7 Upgrades

Tonido Mobile, a personal cloud server application from CodeLathe, has been updated to better align with iOS 7, Apple's newest operating system. Tonido Mobile has been fully revamped to support all of the latest iOS controls and widgets, according to Anis Abdul, CTO of CodeLathe.

The new design mimics iOS 7's flat design, which is a change from the skeuomorphic characteristics of earlier versions. "We also changed some of the code functions, especially with regard to AirPrint and the way the video playback is being handled," says Abdul. "[W]e essentially redesigned the entire UI [user interface] for iOS 7 style."

Users who access their videos through the new version of Tonido Mobile can move forward or backward through the files, as well as access embedded subtitles. "Now users will be able to skip or even go back if we have enough data buffered in the back end of the server," says Abdul. Non-U.S. videos also can be accessed: "The back end server will transcode it to a compatible format" on-the-fly, he says. …
