THOSE WHO THINK THAT THE western World has gone too far in terms of sex and licentiousness should take a good look and discover what has been going on in the Orient. Many years back, a friend tried to persuade me to return to Iraq with the slogan 'Your country needs you. I wasn't tempted. 'No, my friend' said I, 'I've become used to a different way of life. I won't be able to return to the old ways of life in Iraq.'

'Oh, Khalid, you have no idea about present day Iraq and the progress made. Our women have even learned to love adventurous sex!'

Progress made! Thanks to western civilisation. But yet our people continue belittle our own contributions to the art and practices of human procreation, just look at Egypt. They have increased their population from about 20 million souls to almost 100 million within my lifetime without western intervention. It has all been due to their inventiveness in marriage diversification. The poor Europeans have only one form of marriage. Trick or treat. Marry or sin. In the east, just across the Mediterranean, you can have a rich assortment of marriages depending your personal choice, and all approved and in deed organised by the mullahs for only a little something. In addition to the formal and normal marriage contract, there is the mut'ah (enjoyment) temporary marriage, which can last from one day to any number of years, and renewable, the misiar marriage, so convenient for the traveller, the urfi (custom) marriage, and the 'girlfriend' marriage. A new controversial form of marriage contract was recently added to the list, in accordance with a fatwa, which was not accredited by anybody, the jihad marriage (nikah al-jihad), open only to jihadists in action. …
