My dear friend, Abu Zainab, otherwise known as Khalid Al Fukaiki, met me in the street by chance, stopped me and held me by the arm. "Khalid, listen to this story. It will amuse you," said he and went on to relate the following with a big smile on his beaming face:

"I was having coffee at our usual cafe with two of my friends who went on calling me 'Khalid' and 'my dear Khalid' during the course of our conversation. A man sitting by himself was reading at a nearby table, with a voluminous pile of books in front of him. Suddenly, he stopped reading and began to listen to our conversation. He took off his thick glasses, put them down on the table, got up and walked towards us. He looked at me inquisitively and asked: "Excuse me Ustath, but are you Khalid Kishtainy?"

"No", replied my friend, "I am Khalid Al Fukaiki."

"Oh, I am sorry. I heard your friends calling you Khalid. But do you happen to know Khalid Kishtainy?"

"Yes I do, but why do you ask me that? …
