EDGE OF EXTINCRTION

Lisa Reinertson's latest body of work, takes viewers through a reflective journey of our custodial relationship with animals and nature. Her sculpture has always spoken for itself. The collection is comprised of 1.5 large scale sculptures and three oil pastel studies on paper. The initial effect is powerful, yet there are appreciate the layers of expression designed to raise awareness in the viewer.

Reinertson's choices for content have always carried humanitarian influences based on both social/political awareness and her personal pxperience and feelings/She is the rare artist able to absorb, and creat a profound visual statement from the heart. Tp'e initial power of this stallation is just the beginning.

Reinertson's multifaceted work includes masterful references to philosophy, art and history blended with current events to create a mythology for our age. Her art reflects truths of our collective social consciousness that will stand through time for others to see. The beauty of her work is stunningly subversive. The perfection pulls us in as viewers, inviting us first to see and then quickly feel our response to the expression before us. Regardless of ideology, we are captured and cannot help but feel the affect. For some of the work, the affect is direct but fleeting, while other pieces elevate complex feelings buried within each of us. Reinertson's early work often depicted her affinity for and personal relationship to an and nature. In Wolf Rider/ Ophelia's Retain, viewers see an evolved prophetic and visionarv relationship. The rider, crouched on all fours on the wolf's back appears to be looking out though Ophelia's alert blinded eyes while the wolf's earthbound feet transmit its informed primal instinct. Together, the two create a compelling exchange and use of power.
