Paganini winner Bin Huang plays the 'Cannon' Guarneri

The Chinese violinist Bin Huang does not have a compendious discography and is perhaps familiar internationally only for a programme of Baroque 'favourites' by Bach, Corelli, Handel, Tartini, Vitali and Vivaldi for Naxos in 2003. She seems very adept, however, in securing some fabled instruments on which to play-the 'Isaac Stem ex-Panette' Guarneri of 1737 for that Naxos CD, and Paganini's own 'Cannon' Guarneri of 1742 for this recording of Beethoven's Concerto. For the Chaconne from Bach's D minor Partita she reverts to the 'Isaac Stem ex-Panette'. …
