Women don't always do the cleaning, and pink really isn't their favourite colour (it's blue). However, they do buy almost everything for the household. With women making the majority of all consumer purchasing decisions and overpowering men on all things social (in terms of use and engagement), here's how to make a serious marketing impression and tap into that spending power.

Caring and sharing. Women are a lot more willing than men to be the person doing the sharing on social media - distributing content, posts, and images. Social-media marketing has a big influence on what women, their friends and family purchase.

Keep it simple. There's a reason why the shePod, herPod (and so on) don't exist. Take a leaf out of Apple's book - it doesn't create different marketing campaigns or products designed specifically for women; the focus is on design, ease of use and adaptability.

Ditto, a 'Lite' version isn't the answer. Creating a separate brand for men and women rarely, if ever, works. …
