The Steffels recently lost their infant daughter, who was born on May 30 with a type of liver tumor known as hepatic hemangioma, a condition that is linked to high rates of heart failure and death in infants. She died on July 10, at just six weeks old.

On July 13, Nathan Steffel posted a message on Reddit that tugged at the heartstrings of its users. "My daughter recently passed away after a long battle in the children's hospital. She was in the hospital her whole life and we were never able to get a photo without all her tubes. Can someone remove the tubes?"

The image his post references features his beautiful baby girl in the hospital connected to breathing tubes. The picture is their favorite since it's one of the few in which the baby is awake and looking straight into the camera. …
