As 2014 and my first few months leading the Society come to a close, it's a good opportunity to take stock of our accomplishments this year. Our Year in Review included in this issue, highlights some of the items we are most proud of: from distributing an all-time high amount of awards at our competitions, to publishing popular and award-winning articles, to once again receiving a four-star ranking from Charity Navigator for our financial health, accountability, and transparency.

Most recently, we hosted 30 of the top middle school scientists and engineers in the country for the Broadcom MASTERS educational competition. These talented young researchers impressed me not only with their STEM knowledge, but with their poise, confidence, and ambition as they presented their projects to both judges and the public and worked their way through a series of hands-on challenges.

They, and I who was lucky enough to ride on their coattails, even had the chance to meet President Obama! We hope competitions like the Broadcom MASTERS serve not only to inspire the finalists to continue their pursuit of STEM topics, but also other young students around the world. To that end, we've published stories about many of the finalists in our Science News for Students and Eureka! Lab blog. We encourage you to read more about these talented young people and share their stories with students in your life.

Our Board of Trustees ably led the transition in the Society's leadership this year, making these accomplishments possible. …
