During the past several years, the pages of TD magazine have examined the growth of technology and its place in learning. We have explored social learning, virtual training, and other concepts that help make design and delivery of employee training more efficient and exciting. This month's issue digs deeper into how the world of technology resonates in employee development, and the importance of proving its value to senior executives. As Tamar Elkeles, Patti Phillips, and Jack Phillips write in their feature article on page 42, "These investments attract attention from executives who often want to know if they are working properly."

So what data do you need to measure to prove the value of these programs? What metrics do senior executives use to measure business results?

Bill McDermott, CEO of SAP, says in a Q&A on page 32, "What I love best are the stories about employees and customers who are innovating, like the city of Boston that is using our cloud technology to completely reinvent how the city is managed."

Jenny Dearborn, chief learning officer at SAP, admits that to attract Millennial talent, you must create learning that mirrors the best consumer apps and uses engaging mobile and gaming initiatives. …
