* Diane Rodriguez has been nominated to join the National Council on the Arts by President Barack Obama. Rodriguez is associate artistic director of Center Theatre Group in Los Angeles and currently serves as president of the board of directors of Theatre Communications Group. Rodriguez's nomination is currently awaiting approval from the Senate.

* Jonathan Moscone will step down as artistic director of the California Shakespeare Theatre after the 2015-16 season. Moscone, who has led Cal Shakes for the past 15 years, will stay in the Bay Area to join the team at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts as the organization's new chief of civic engagement. In Moscone's 15 years at Cal Shakes, the theatre's budget grew from $2.1 million to $5 million.

* Stephanie Gularte will be the new producing artistic director at American Stage Theatre Company in St. Petersburg, Fla. Gularte, was the founding artistic director of Capital Stage Company in Sacramento, Calif.

* Karen Evans Kandel has been chosen as the new co-artistic director at Mabou Mines in New York City. Kandel first performed with the company in 1990 in its production of Mabou Mines Lear, earning her an Obie award, and is a mentor in the Mabou Mines/Suite Resident Artist Program. She assumes leadership of the company alongside current co-artistic directors Lee Breuer, Sharon Fogarty and Terry O'Reilly.

* Kelli Strickland will take over for Megan Wildebour as executive director of the Hypocrites in Chicago. …
