Sellers Say It's a Good Time to Sell

Fannie Mae's June 2015 National Housing Survey[TM] found that property sellers are now sensing a solid window of opportunity in the market, as those responding that it's a good time to sell hit a survey high of 52 percent. That was according to a July 7 press release on the findings from the Washington, D.C.-based company.

While sellers are feeling good about their prospects, buyers may not be sharing their optimism, according to the June findings. Those saying it is a good time to buy a house fell to 63 percent--tying a survey low, according to Fannie Mae.

Part of that sentiment may be tied to a sense that mortgage rates will be rising in the future. The survey found that the share of respondents saying mortgage rates will go up in the next 12 months rose by 3 percentage points to 50 percent.

The survey also found that the share of respondents saying if they were to move, they would buy a house, fell by 2 percentage points to 64 percent. …
