Staff at the Melodies Center for Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorders at Albany Medical Center in New York made July 16 a memorable day for four-year-old Abby, who was diagnosed with leukemia last October.

Abby has a good relationship with all of the nurses at the Melodies Center, but favors one in particular: Matt Hickling.

Hickling and his young patient took a shine to each other. "I noticed that every time she came in, she'd come looking for me," Hickling told Yahoo Parenting.

In fact, Abby began telling friends and family that she was going to be married to Hickling. The notion was so precious to Hickling that he decided he would grant her wish. "Abby told her mom, Renee, that she was planning to propose to me," says Hickling. "Renee told me about it ... so I thought it would be fun to make it happen."

With the help of a hospital social worker and patient life specialist, who served as Abby's bridesmaids in the "ceremony," Hickling and Abby's nurses and family were able to stage an adorable fake wedding ceremony. …
