JOAN T.A. GABEL has been named executive vice president for academic affairs and provost at the University of South Carolina. She was Robert J. Trulaske, Sr. Dean at the Trulaske College of Business at the University of Missouri. Gabel earned a bachelor's from Haverford College and a juris doctor from the University of Georgia.

LESTER ARNOLD has been named associate vice chancellor for human resources at Winston-Salem State University. He most recently served as senior vice president of human resources for FOCUS Brands Inc. Arnold earned a bachelors from Norfolk State University and an MBA from the University of Hartford.

MANNY ROMERO has been appointed executive director of public affairs at the Borough of Manhattan Community College. Most recently, he was director of public relations at Baruch College. Romero earned an associate from Mesa Community College in Mesa, Arizona, a bachelor's from Northern Arizona University and a master's from Arizona State University.
