TRAKI L. TAYLOR has been named dean of the Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) College of Education, effective in January. She is dean and a professor of education in the College of Education at Bowie State University. Taylor earned a bachelors from Coppin State College, and a master's and a doctorate from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

NEWTONA "TINA" JOHNSON has been appointed interim vice provost for academic affairs at Middle Tennessee State University. She was a professor of English and director of the university's womens and gender studies program. She earned a bachelors from the University of Sierra Leone, a master's from Dalhousie University in Canada, a master's from Concordia University in Canada and a doctorate from Emory University.

MIKE GARRETT has been named executive director for athletics at California State University, Los Angeles. Most recently, he served as athletic director at Langston University in Oklahoma. He earned a bachelor's from the University of Southern California and a juris doctor from the Western State College of Law at Argosy University.

MARY-RITA MOORE has been named president of Triton College, effective in January. She was interim president of Triton. She earned a bachelor's and a master's from Rosary College, now Dominican University.
