The ABC affiliate out of Savannah, Georgia, reported on January 16 about a break-in that involved a suspect with a long rap sheet. WJCL.com reported that Kim Lyle and her children were at home at the time of the break-in. It was in the middle of the night, and Lyle and her children were fast asleep. Lyle was jarred from her slumber by the sound of her back door chimes, ringing downstairs. Lyle immediately knew that there was an intruder in her house, and she quickly retrieved her firearm. She went to the top of her stairs and shouted down, "I am armed. And I will shoot." She then ran to grab her phone and dialed 911. Lyle's warning appeared to have scared off the intruder, who fled. A suspect was apprehended on the balcony of a nearby carriage house by arriving police.

Lyle told WJCL that the break-in terrified her and that she was "shaking so bad. …
