POSTSECONDARY PROGRAMS ARE MORE CRITICAL THAN ever, and the statistics prove it. According to the report Recovery: Job Growth and Education Requirements Through 2020, "By 2020,65 percent of all jobs in the economy will require postsecondary education and training beyond high school." Furthermore, there will be 55 million job openings through 2020.

Taking a look at this more closely, the report states:

* 35 percent of the job openings (19 million) will require at least a bachelors degree.

* 30 percent of the job openings (17 million) will require some college or an associate degree.

Educators and politicians alike have taken note of statistics like these and have implemented a number of programs and initiatives to make the road to postsecondary education and success even smoother--from CTE programs of study and career pathways to dual credit and concurrent enrollment to stackable credentials and workforce development programs, etc.

Likewise, the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) has also followed these statistics, and we are actively playing our part to better connect students to postsecondary CTE programs and create pathways to in-demand jobs. …
