NO MATTER HOW intense the cultural and political tong wars have been, the nastiest one is now underway. No Administration in recent history has confronted as much animosity as the Trump Administration. The vitriol is coming from a triumvirate of elites: Hollywood and New York celebrities; the major media outlets; and the permanent Federal bureaucracy. Donald Trump, combative to his core, welcomes the fight. In his Inaugural Address, he threw down the gauntlet, declaring, "The establishment protected itself, but not the citizens of our country. Their victories have not been your victories; their triumphs have not been your triumphs; and while they celebrated in our nation's capital, there was little to celebrate for struggling families all across our land. That all changes--starting right here, and right now."

The establishment will fight him to the end. Celebrities feel the popular culture is theirs; the mainstream media assumes liberalism is the natural order of things; and the senior bureaucrats are sure they know government better than any conservative or populist Administration. All of them are steeped in a sense of entitlement.

These comfortable elites are based in the wealthy communities in California, Oregon, Washington, New York, Massachusetts, and Washington, D.C. Our nation's capital gave Trump barely four percent of the vote. Those must have come from the lonely few who kept their mouths shut at D.C. dinner parties. The celebrities are marinated in left wing dreams and fads. They revel in political theater, performing at protest marches, and turning television comedy shows into an incessant form of indecent propaganda. They use awards program to congratulate themselves and lacerate Trump and the Republicans.

The major television and cable networks, save Fox, and the national newspapers, such as The New York Times, Washington Post, and Los Angeles Times highlight all-negative stories about Trump and the Republicans. On election night, it was obvious how shocked and disappointed most television anchors and reporters were when they had to call the election for Trump. The Federal bureaucracy, staffed at the senior level with well-paid professionals, is convinced its programs are crucial to the nation's welfare. Its members will call on all of their allies in Congress and among the lobbyists to protect them from budget cuts or, God forbid, elimination.

The leadership of the Democratic Party--which continues to creep (make that sprint) ever leftward--is counting on the failure of the Trump Administration to bring them back to power; they see no benefit in cooperating. A number of congressional Democrats are pledged to do everything to assure that this Administration is a failure, declaring that Trump is not a "legitimate president." Left unanswered: if Trump is not the legitimate president, then who is? Would they have had us install Hillary Clinton or would they be happy without a president. The claim is ridiculous.

Trump's alleged illegitimacy apparently is based on his being elected as result of Russia's interference in the election. …
