The technological advances found as early as the controversial cloning of animals, to the most recent development of robotic limbs fully controlled by the brain are a clear indication of the role technology plays in advancing medicine. The same is holding true for career and technical education (CTE).

In general, the enhanced technological applications in the science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fields are driving a greater demand for qualified specialists in some areas. In particular, the enhanced technological applications in medicine have produced some of the most groundbreaking discoveries and have helped save countless lives and provided better living conditions. Specialization, however, requires competency, and no other form of education is better able to provide competency-based education than CTE. …
