DOUGLAS HASTAD (Carroll University) will retire as president of Carroll University in June. He served the university for more than 10 years, having previously served at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. Hastad is a graduate of Arizona State University, Washington State University and Concordia College.

DIANA HESS (University of Wisconsin-Madison) won the 2017 Grawemeyer Award in Education from the University of Louisville for a book co-written with Paula McAvoy, The Political Classroom: Evidence and Ethics in Democratic Education (2014).

J. ROBERT ROSSMAN (Illinois State University) was selected as the 2016 distinguished colleague by the Academy of Leisure Sciences. The award recognizes someone who was an exceptional member of the academy through service to the profession.

VONCELLA McCLEARYJONES (The University of Oklahoma) was named 2016 outstanding educator by The University of Oklahoma College of Education. She was also named a fellow in the National League for Nursing's Academy of Nursing Education.

HEATHER COLTMAN (Florida Atlantic University) was named provost and senior vice president for academic affairs at James Madison University. A concert pianist, Coltman is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, the Mannes School of Music in New York, and The University of Texas at Austin.

KRISTIN SOBOLIK (Wright State University) was named provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. She is a graduate of the University of Iowa and Texas A&M University who also previously served at the Climate Change Institute at the University of Maine.

KATHLEEN B. GABERSON (Duquesne University) was honored with the 2016 Association of perioperative Registered Nurses Award for Excellence. The award recognizes accomplishments in perioperative nursing practice, education, and research that reflect the goals of excellence in perioperative patient care, and is AORN's highest honor. Gaberson is owner and nursing education consultant for OWK Consulting in Pittsburgh. She is a graduate of Carlow University and the University of Pittsburgh. …
