Months in the Bush Takes a Toll on Actor/Philosopher

Alec Baldwin, an actor, is quite the hot number in elite Democratic circles and is said to have aspirations of a political sort. Appearing not so long ago on the Conan O'Brien late-night show, Baldwin was asked what he thought of the impeachment proceedings. In a response that renders the vehement tirades of James "Ragin' Cajun" Carville as mere mealy-mouthed moderation, Baldwin went off. The Insight reader who called the following to our attention, by the way, also wrote to NBC expressing the hope that the Secret Service would look into Baldwin's comments -- which were, without further ado or emendation, as follows:

"I was in Africa, I go to Africa. I mean, ladies and gentlemen, I am in Africa. For three months I am in the bush and I come back. I come back here, and I come back to what? I mean, what is happening right now as we speak? Right now the Judiciary Committee ... the president has an approval rating of 68 percent. …
