Article excerpt

Three of the online industry's major providers of in-depth company and industry information, The Investext Group, Securities Data Company, and CDA/Spectrum, have announced that they have combined to form one organization. The organization is part of parent company Thomson Financial Services' strategy of aligning its businesses around specific customer groups to develop "unique and in dispensable" business solutions.

David frying, formerly president of The Investext Group, has been named president of the new organization, which will focus on the investment banking, consulting, and advisory markets. "By focusing our efforts on the markets that we serve best-which include investment banking, consulting, commercial banking, venture capital, legal, and other advisory services-we can develop business solutions that help our clients succeed. With the realignment, our teams will be focused on delivering the best products to customers today and developing products that set the standard in the years ahead."

As part of the realignment, CDA/Spectrum products aimed at institutional investors will become part of First Call Corp., another Thomson Financial Services business. (First Call will remain separate from this group of merging companies.)

With the integration of the three businesses, clients will have a single source for authoritative information on companies and industries from sources that have set the standard for research quality, according to the announcement. Customers will have access to everything from a company's merger and acquisition activity (from Securities Data Company) to financial forecasts and competitive analysis (from The Investext Group) to securities holding coverage (from CDA/Spectrum). …
