Autonomy with StoryServer 4 Provides Personalized Web Experience

Article excerpt

Autonomy, Inc. has announced that its Content Server now supports Vignette's StoryServer 4. By automating the categorization, tagging, and hyperlinking of large volumes of information, Autonomy's Content Server allows companies to quickly reap the benefits of Vignette's Internet-relationship-management software to attract, engage, and retain online customers.

According to Autonomy CEO Mike Lynch, Vignette's StoryServer 4 offers online businesses the ability to respond effectively to a visitor's needs by adapting a Web site's presentation, navigation, and content. "Depending on the volume of information that companies want to make available online, organizing the content and preparing it for use in StoryServer 4 can be a time-consuming task," said Lynch. "Autonomy's software expedites the process by automatically categorizing all of the information and inserting the right hypertext links and XML tags."

Lynch explained that Autonomy's software also offers companies using StoryServer 4 the ability to profile site visitors based on the information they read online. The advanced pattern-recognition technology that fuels Autonomy's software analyzes the ideas in the content they read each time, not just by the URLs in their click streams or their responses to questionnaires or forms. More importantly, over time the technology refines its understanding of each individual's interests and becomes increasingly accurate. "Vignette's StoryServer 4 can then use these Autonomy-generated profiles to personalize each customer's online experience and provide companies with decision support analysis to increase the effectiveness of their online business," said Lynch.

Greg Peters, Vignette president and CEO, stressed the importance of managing online customer relationships throughout the customer life cycle. …
