Article excerpt

Online Anywhere has announced Online Anywhere Oasis 1.0, a product that allows consumers to easily and efficiently access Web pages from Internet TVs, PDAs, and other information appliances. According to the company, Oasis is the industry's first and only "Author Once, View Anywhere" solution that automatically reformats any HTML-based Web content for the leading non-PC devices. Comprised of a suite of server software, Oasis delivers Internet, intranet, and application-specific content to a wide range of non-PC devices without requiring content re-authoring for each device. Oasis provides access to critical Web-based information and applications-such as e-mail, electronic commerce, entertainment, financial, and corporate data-from devices including televisions, data phones, alpha-numeric and two-way pagers, palm devices, and Win CE-based palm-sized and handheld PCs. For maximum flexibility, Oasis offers three access modes: Connect Mode, offering real-time browsing and access to Web content; Off-Line Mode, allowing users to download reformatted content to the respective device for off-line viewing later; and Alert Mode, notifying the user, via email or page, when a specific event has occurred. …
