Faxon Offers Electronic Invoicing, Web-Based Bibliographic Tool

The Faxon Company, Inc. and Ameritech Library Services have announced the successful completion of development and testing of a new electronic invoicing capability. In addition, Faxon has announced a new, Web-based bibliographic tool, The Serials Update Service, for use by serials and acquisitions staff.

With the electronic invoicing capability, Faxon will provide libraries using the Dynix system with EDIFACT format invoicing that is compliant with current EDItEUR implementation guidelines for the serials industry. Data files are retrieved using Internet file transfer from the secure Faxon ftp server, then loaded using the new DynixEDI facility. The EDIFACT invoice load capability is being offered for the first time in Dynix release 173, and was available starting last month.

Serials Update Service

The Serials Update Service (SUS) provides timely information about title changes, discontinued journals, order status adjustments, and similar items. Updated on a daily basis, SUS provides an authoritative, reliable source for consultation during the normal processing of incoming serials. Entries for title changes, merges, and splits are listed under both the old and new titles.
