Bold colours and clever use of typeface come together to tell a salutary tale of prejudice overcome by experience. The bunnies are playing on the roof when Mr Pigeon drops in to tell them that they have new neighbours--Rats are moving into the ground floor! Mr Pigeon delivers this news with no other comment, and the bunnies are pleased and excited as they bounce down the stairs to tell Lettuce the news. Lettuce has never met a rat before and decides they should go and say hello to the new neighbours, calling for Vern on the way. Vern comments that rats aren't very tidy, and so it goes. Each floor collects a different animal/neighbour and they all have an assumption about rats that is slightly worse than the one before. These build up until, by the time we reach the ground floor, we are expecting monsters. …
