Making a festive pillow to grace your porch or outdoor furniture can be lots of fun. Just think of the fun you and your child will have exploring the different textures and colors of the filling, and then cutting, shredding, stuffing, and sewing. The process is as rewarding as the spectacular cushion you will create. Trendy home fashion boutiques will have nothing on you and your child!

You will need:

* Clear plastic fabric cut into two 15-in. squares.

* Large rick-rack trim (about 2 yds.) cut to four 15-in. strips.

* A variety of filling materials:

* Fabric pieces (We found that felt, burlaps, silks, and netting provided the most interesting effects during the process, as well as in the finished product.)

* Ribbon * Yarn * Streamers (Crepe paper or metallic paper.) * Glitter

* Confetti (Make your own with heavy-colored paper and a hole punch.)

* Shredded paper (tissue paper, colored laser printer paper, or gift wrap.)

* Colored feathers

What to do:

1. Place the rick-rack 1-in. from the edge of the plastic pieces.

2. Stitch both plastic pieces and the rick-rack together. …
