Information publisher NewsBank, Inc. has announced that it will be the exclusive provider to the education and library markets of the Chicago Tribune's digitized news archive dating back to 1849. This new archival information will complement the existing full-text Chicago Tribune articles from 1985 to the present that NewsBank currently provides online.

"We are pleased to partner with the Tribune in making their invaluable historical information readily available to students and researchers worldwide," said Daniel S. Jones, president of NewsBank.

The news archive will include the full text and images of every front page from 1849 through the present, the full text of all obituaries and death notices from 1849 to 1997, and the images and fully searchable text from some 15 million news clippings from the early 1920s through 1984.

NewsBank currently makes the complete text of the Chicago Tribune available online, specially enhanced for schools and libraries with an intuitive interface, multiple search options, and daily information updates. …
