Best Australian SME Business Activity in Asia
The honours keep rolling in for Melbourne-based group of companies, Compumedics.
A specialist in the manufacture of medical monitoring and diagnostic equipment, Compumedics has gone one better in this year's Business Asia News Magazine Awards by being voted the Best Australian SME Business Activity in Asia.
Compumedics was a finalist in this category last year, but was pipped at the post by the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology.
The win comes hard on the heels of its recognition as DHL Australian Exporter of the Year at the 1998 Australian Export Awards. It was also the Victorian Exporter of the Year in 1998.
Compumedics is involved in the development, design, manufacture and marketing of computer-based medical systems.
Its products include sleep disorder monitoring and analysis systems, telemedical imaging systems, and neurology, electromyography, cardiology and general physiology monitoring and analysis systems.
Sleep apnoea is one of the more common sleep disorders. It is potentially lethal because breathing can stop hundreds of times a night.
Established in 1987, Compumedics was the first company to install computer-based sleep diagnostic centres in the Australasian region and now holds more than 70 per cent of the market share.
These sleep monitoring and analysis developments formed the basis of Compumedics Sleep Pty Ltd, a Compumedics Holdings' company. …
