Magazine article Information Today Launches C-Site, Software That Automates Web Updates

E-Site lets Webmasters distribute the task of Web site updating throughout an organization while maintaining a high level of publishing control. Authors simply attach files (HTML, .gif, .jpg, etc.) to standard email messages addressed to the e-Site system. The system receives the message and processes the update based on the action typed in the subject field.

E-Site has two parts: the e-Site Administrator and the e-Site Robot. The Administrator is a Java application that runs on virtually any system. The Administrator is where the user defines all aspects of the system, including authors, approvers, permissions, and directory properties. The e-Site robot runs on the Web server and receives all updates by e-mail and processes them. E-Site implements three distinct configurable security solutions ranging from simple e-mail address verification to one-use passwords.

E-Site includes many publishing management features, such as update approvals, page expiration reminders, and update notifications. Authors request approval for content and the designated manager is contacted by e-mail. Once approved, the document is published to the live site.
