Etak Adds Online Geocoding Service to Mapping Suite

Etak, Inc., a publisher of digital map data and development tools, has introduced EZ-Locate, a geocoding service that allows Web publishers and other commercial clients to send lists of addresses over the Internet and receive back latitude/longitude coordinates and census data for both map display and geographic/demographic analysis.

Using EZ-Locate, address records can be sent over the Internet from a desktop PC to Etak's geocoding server. The server postally standardizes input addresses and appends geocodes (latitude/longitude coordinates), postal codes, and census codes then immediately returns this information to the sender. Available as a subscription-based service, customers only pay for the transactions they make. There are no map databases to license and maintain and no matching software to purchase.

"Using the online service, customers simply download client software from Etak's Web site, set up an account, and begin geocoding," said Steve Dodds, Etak's vice president of sales and product marketing. "The service provides users with a straightforward, low-effort means of acquiring latitude/longitude information."
