Blackwell's Launches Serials CONNECT Subscription Management on the Web

Blackwell's has announced that librarians can now access Serials CONNECT on the World Wide Web. Blackwell's subscription management system has been relaunched to meet the needs of information professionals who have grown accustomed to the standardized interfaces and search engines offered by the Web.

Serials CONNECT contains bibliographic and pricing information for over 250,000 journals and allows the user to research, order, claim, and renew both journals and monograph series from their desktop. These can then be ordered online, and the system will keep track of order management information. For the first time, users will be able to search by invoice number and amend the order number or fund number they apply to a subscription at any point in its life, according to the company.

Both Blackwell's serials and series files can be searched simultaneously, including searching by ISSN, and each entry gives comprehensive title, publisher, and pricing information. These include e-mail and URL addresses, Library of Congress classification codes, detailed volume information for each series, and availability.

In addition, Serials CONNECT does not limit itself to print material but keeps records for thousands of electronic journals, in addition to many of the most popular CD-ROM titles. …
