E-Commerce Strategy Pays off for Camtech

Adelaide-based company Camtech has tapped into Asia's burgeoning e-commerce needs through a new agreement to provide hi-tech Internet payment gateways in Malaysia.

Camtech, in tandem with Internet services company Alam Teknokrat, will provide secure credit card payment technology to Malaysian companies.

The centrepiece of the company's international expansion plan is the delivery of the Camtech E-Commerce Pay-ment Gateway system to major markets, including the United States.

Camtech chief executive officer Bruce Linn said the potential of Malaysia's e-commerce market had already emerged.

"We have signed a number of merchants and re-sellers already and are actively working with a number of customers on developing their e-commerce websites and strategies," he said.

"We will have a ready-made user base for the Payment Gateway (system) and plan to have more than 30 merchants by the end of this year."

Camtech's move to Asia is based on a solid foundation of e-commerce success in Australia, where the company holds more than 60 per cent of the e-commerce payment gateway software market nationally.

The Camtech system consists of high-performance Sun Microsystems Unix servers located at Alam Teknokrat's web hosting facility within one of the Universiti Putra Malaysia's (UPM) secure IT incubator centres. …
